bio
i am a north-london born citizen of aotearoa, currently living on unceded land in lutruwita. a self-taught ceramic sculptor so interested in folk & narrative art, mythology & monsters.
unashamedly sentimental, i construct creepy-cute, sculptural-ish yet domestically functional works mixing waste-hierarchy philosophy & post-human supposition in fictional world-creation. i believe in the transformative influence of demonstrative love & the vital necessity of intentional partnerships, collaborations & communities. these are the the scenes i enjoy creating & the ways i wish to be a part of.
everyday, i love being in residence at salamanca arts centre, nipaluna, lutruwita, tasmania, where i turn up & make as often as other life allows because, doing art is of all things, the activity which makes me feel most honestly myself. & that is restorative & fun. i wish it for everyone.
anyway, making work of these themes feels to me optimistic & reassuring: a reminder that life only ends if we assume the story is just about us.
thanks for visiting.
also, fuck fascism. fuck it so much.
love, laura
